Feminist Forum RSO Listhost
While many feminists are well intentioned, the feminist movement has a long history of prioritizing only some voices and needs - particularly those of white, cisgendered, straight, middle class, thin, able-bodied women. Feminist Forum is a UChicago RSO dedicated to recentralizing feminist discussion on people of marginalized identities and groups. Our goal to uplift the voices of BIPOC, LGBTQA+, and disabled people within this movement and do active work for the women and people of marginalized gender who need the most support.
We hold discussion meetings, host professor talks and dinners, and organize events to support the women and people of marginalized genders in our community, here in Hyde Park, and beyond. Our discussion meetings are informal opportunities to talk about media (articles, podcasts, movies, etc) about a given feminist topic. They are an opportunity to take a second to listen and engage with what these communities are saying. Educating oneself by listening to community leaders must always be the first step to activism.
