Description:Welcome to the Folklore Society listhost! The listhost announces only updates about the Folk Fest and other events. If you're interested in receiving weekly meeting announcements, please subscribe to email@example.com (https://lists.uchicago.edu/web/subscribe/folkloresociety) instead.
This list announces upcoming Folk music and dance events, both on and off-campus. This includes but is not limited to events sponsored by the Folklore Society; outside events that may be of interest to list members may also be posted. The list is moderated and spam-free, and we only send out a handful of emails a month.
The Folklore Society was begun in 1961 as a way of presenting traditional music at the U of C. The Society's major production is an annual Folk Festival, held the first full weekend of each February. Recent fests have included bluegrass, blues, Cajun, Irish, old-time Appalachian, Gospel, Mexican, and other traditional musicians. The Folk Fest currently has 2 evening concerts (Fri. and Sat.) and dances and workshops during the day on Saturday. See our website at http://uofcfolk.org/ for more details. In addition to the annual fests, we occasionally present other concerts and dances.
