The Asian Philosophies Workshop at University of Chicago
As Asian philosophies demarcate an emerging increasingly-recognised subfield in Philosophy while being slightly more established in fields like Religious Studies and Asian departments, we recognise people value multiple, sometimes contentious, approaches, and we intend this to be a constructive and respectful space that encourages careful and high quality work no matter the approach.
The Asian Philosophies Workshop strives to connect expertise that is often dispersed across departments and institutional siloes, to create a space for the rigorous study of Asian philosophies qua philosophy - and, in so doing, to contribute to a vision of a more integrated, globally-engaged philosophical and academic community. We welcome you to join us in this inter-departmental endeavour alongside our faculty advisors situated across Divinity, Philosophy, and South Asian Languages and Civilisations, and student leaders from Divinity and Philosophy.
